This privacy policy (“Policy”) describes how Vote.org and Outvote Inc collect, use and share personal information of consumer users of the Vote.org Mobile App (the “Product”). This Policy also applies to any of our other websites and apps that post this Policy. This Policy does not apply to websites that post different statements.


We do not sell user or contact information. You can request to delete all of your personal information from our servers at any time by emailing support@outvote.io.


Information You Give Us.

We collect your name, phone number, and password as well as other information you directly give us on our Product which typically include the following information from your phonebook contacts: first name, middle name, last name, company name, address, phone, and email.

Information We Get From Others.

We may get information about you from other sources. We may add this to information we get from this Product. This allows us to locate accurate public data for you, such as polling place and registration dates.

Information Automatically Collected.

We automatically log information about you and your phone. For example, when using our Product, we log your phone operating system type, device type, device language, the screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page, access times and information about your use of and actions on our Product. This information is used to improve the user experience of our Product and is not sold or shared beyond Outvote Inc and Vote.org*.


In order to better serve our supporters, we use cookies and periodically analyze web logs. We also may use third-party services such as Amplitude Analytics. This helps us understand traffic patterns and know if there are problems with our Product.

The information generated by a cookie about your use of our Product (including your IP address) is transmitted to and stored by Amazon on servers in the United States. Amazon may also transfer this information to third parties where Amazon is legally required, or where such third parties process the information on Amazon’s behalf. Amazon can combine your IP address with any other data held by Amazon. By using this Product, you consent to the processing of data by Amazon in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

URLs contained in emails may contain an ID that enables us to correctly identify the person who takes an action using a web page. We use these URLs to simplify the process of signing petitions and filling out surveys. We may occasionally present a shortened URL that references a longer URL which you can see in the browser’s address bar when you access the page.


We respect Do Not Track headers.


This Privacy Policy does not apply to any external links or any website or Product other than the Vote.org app. Third party sites will have their own policies which may be different from ours and we recommend that you check the privacy policy of each site that you visit.


When you download or use the Outvote App, Outvote may collect certain contact information from your device, including your name, address, email address, and telephone number, as well as the name, company name, address, email address, and phone number of any of the contacts stored in your phone. We may also obtain information from outside sources and combine it with the information we collect through your use of the Outvote App. This information will be provided to Vote.org and used for the exclusive purposes of measuring the effectiveness of Vote.org’s and Outvote’s programs. Vote.org also may send you -- the user -- news and information about Vote.org and issues concerning voting and timely election reminders. Neither Vote.org nor Outvote will use the data you provide through your use of the Outvote App to contact any of your contacts.


Except as described in this Policy, we will not disclose your information that we collect with the Product to third parties without your consent.

We may share personal information with your consent. We may share personal information for legal, protection, and safety purposes. We may share information to comply with laws. We may share information to respond to lawful requests and legal processes. We may share information in an emergency. This includes protecting the safety of our employees and agents, our customers, or any person. We may also share aggregated and/or anonymized data with others for academic or other public-interest uses.

We will challenge any attempt to gain access to the information you give us by government agencies or private organizations. In the unlikely event that we are required by law to disclose any of your information we will do our best to contact you first so that you may have the opportunity to object to the disclosure. We will also independently object to any requests for access to information about users of our Product that we believe to be improper.


You may send requests about personal information to our Contact Information below. You can request to change contact choices, opt-out of our sharing with others, and update your personal information.

In the same way you provide Vote.org with access to personal information you may remove access to personal information at any time by updating your settings in the Product. You may also destroy the information stored about your phonebook contacts at any time from Outvote’s servers by sending an email to support@outvote.io.


We use certain physical, managerial, and technical safeguards that are designed to improve the integrity and security of personal information that we collect and maintain. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or store on the Product, and you do so at your own risk. We also cannot guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.

If we learn of a data security incident that compromises or appears to compromise your personally identifiable information, then we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps. We may also post a notice through the Product if a data security incident occurs.


We do not knowingly solicit personally identifying information from children under 13 years of age. We will promptly remove any personal information from children under 13 upon notice to us.


The Product is hosted in the United States and is intended for users located within the United States. If you choose to use the Product from the European Union or other regions of the world with laws governing data collection and use that may differ from U.S. law, then please note that you are transferring your personal information outside of those regions to the United States for storage and processing. Also, we may transfer your data from the U.S. to other countries or regions in connection with storage and processing of data, fulfilling your requests, and operating the Product. By providing any information, including personal information, on or to the Product, you consent to such transfer, storage, and processing.
